Just like any type of optical illusion, we can trick the brain into thinking it is seeing something it isn’t seeing or not seeing what is in front of us, and that is what happened with Mary Johnson.
Mary Johnson is a state representative in North Dakota and she was busy working for her state rather than working on her appearance. She did care about her physical looks, and she cared about those who were closest to her, which is why she went to see Christopher Hopkins.
Hopkins is known by most people as The Makeover Guy and he is known for taking people and changing their appearance into something almost magically different. That is how he talked Johnson from being a regular individual to somebody who would leave her husband standing there wondering what he was actually seeing.
Mary Johnson, who was 60 years old in 2019, decided to step away from working in her political duties to visit Christopher Hopkins. Her decision to do so would change her life in different ways.
She wanted to improve her professional career and set new goals, and she knew that she needed a new look in order to do so. She also wanted to give her husband, David, a big surprise and I would say she did so in an amazing way.
When she first met Hopkins, she sat in his chair and told him that she didn’t want any purple or blue or anything like it. She wanted to get rid of some years off of her age, but she didn’t want to do it with unusual tricks.

During the transformation video, you can hear someone else who was with Hawkins walk off the screen and say that she looks about 42. She is absolutely happy because as she said, that was about 20 years ago.
After that, she went into a room where David was waiting for her and she wondered if he would even recognize her. Amazingly, he didn’t but later, all he could say was WOW!
Johnson said that she was absolutely thrilled with her new look, saying that she felt great and was very happy with the job. She told him they didn’t have much of a canvas to work with but in the end, she was happy with what they did.
