Though Brooke had hoped her daughter would wait until her 30s to get her first tattoo, she could not resist Rowan's heartfelt request. “She played me really well because she said, ‘Well, will you get one with me?' And of course, she knew I would say yes to that,” Brooke admitted.
“So, she got what she wanted. I felt like she wanted something to do with her mother. When you have teenagers, you take what you can get,” the actress added.
Then, just a couple of months later, Rowan packed her bags for college, heading to Wake Forest University in North Carolina. For Brooke, the transition was anything but easy.
She openly admitted, “I'm not ever going to get used to her being gone. She's going to be married with her own children, and I'm still not going to be used to her being gone.”
As Rowan settled into her new life at college, her mom was proud and emotional. The actress reflected, “She's really living her life, she's enjoying college, she's just really blossoming and growing.”
“I listen to the way they talk to each other and their friends and the things they're discussing, and you think, ‘Wow, she's really her own person and I've done my best in my job and I'm going to try to get out of her way,'” Brooke continued.
Rowan's younger sister also admired her free-spirited nature. In August 2024, she shared, “She knows how not to be stressed by what other people think, which is something I need to learn. And if I need her to have my back, she will.”

On April 18, 2006, Brooke, then 41, and Chris welcomed their second daughter, Grier Hammond, in Los Angeles. Now a teenager, Grier has developed a passion for fashion and modeling — two things she seems to have inherited from her famous mom.
Brooke joked that she knew exactly where to look if something went missing from her closet. “My younger [daughter] is extremely into fashion,” she shared.
When Brooke notices a designer item has disappeared, Grier is usually the culprit. “If I want to know where anything good that I have is, and I can't find it in my closet, I know exactly where to find it. It's her!” Brooke said.
The actress recalled one of Grier's go-to responses when confronted about taking clothes. “And she's [like], ‘Oh, I forgot to give that back to you.' I'm like, ‘You also forgot to ask me to borrow it. So let's go back, back up a bit,'” Brooke said, laughing.
Unlike her older sister, Grier has an eye for luxury fashion. “She's just a little bit of a label monger,” Brooke admitted. “[Rowan]'s like, ‘Mom, it doesn't matter to me.' They're completely the opposite.”
Beyond her love for high fashion, Grier has begun following in her famous mother's modeling footsteps. According to her Instagram bio, she is represented by IMG Models Worldwide, a modeling agency.
Though Brooke initially resisted her daughter's interest in the industry, she eventually came around — but not without setting some firm boundaries. “So I fought it for so long and it's such a different industry now than it was. She's interested in Runway and that's brutal and backstage is just brutal […],” she stated.
“[…] I finally had to sort of give in and say, ‘Okay, if you're gonna do this — A, I'm not gonna be your manager. You're going to be with an agency. You are gonna have a great work ethic. It's not gonna be comfortable and you're gonna listen to me […],'” Brooke added.
