Recently, an ambitious young teenager went about figuring out how to get vaccinated without his parents’ permission. Now, we’re seeing the opposite, as an anti-vaccine mom turns to the internet for advice on how to keep her three-year-old kid from succumbing to the measles outbreak. Amongst the public health panic that’s spread across Washington, in a certain region with many more vaccine exemptions than average, she posted in the Vaccine Education Network for suggestions.
“My 3-year-old is not vaccinated and there is currently a measles outbreak in my state,” began her post in the ‘Natural Health Anti-Vaxx Community’ Network. “Any suggestions for precautions I can take to protect her would be very much appreciated.”
Wouldn’t it be great if we had a demonstrated means of protecting ourselves from contagious diseases? Even better if we had a method that had officially eliminated measles in the States almost two decades ago? Oh wait…we do. This latter accomplishment is now at jeopardy thanks to the latest increase in unimmunized kids; it’s why an anti-vaccine effort needs to be tackled directly for the sake of everyone’s health.
It goes without saying that the mother definitely got her advice. Her appeal was quickly spread across the internet, with some ‘advice’ being hysterical (even if it was a bit on the dark side). Although, what do you expect if some insist on ignoring scientific evidence and opt instead to risk their kids’ health through their obstinance? Read on to see some of the darkly funny posts, and share your thoughts!
