The Christmas movie of the year goes to Netflix’s’ “The Christmas Chronicles”

Kurt Russel has long been a huge idol for me. Ever since I watched “Big Trouble In China” I have admired his acting and have really worn out that VHS tape! But what made me really excited was when I heard that he would be playing the role of Santa in Netflix’s new movie “The Christmas Chronicles”.

It wasn’t the type of role that I had expected him to take on, but surely, he has not disappointed. The movie was released on the 22nd of November. I watched it with my family on Thanksgiving as we were waiting for that good old turkey to be cooked in the oven.

It turned out that during Thanksgiving week, the movie had actually been streamed 20 million times!

“Even in his successful career, [Kurt Russell] has never had that many people see one of his movies in the first week ever,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos told Business Insider. If you compared the movie’s release to a more traditional theatrical rollout, then the Netflix viewing numbers would translate into a first week gross of $200 million. “Even movies that go on to $1 billion don’t typically do that in the first week,” Sarandos said.

That is incredible!

Although I am confident that of those 20 million streams, a lot of them were repeats because it was too good to not want to watch again. (I mean I’ve already watched it twice!).
So, to give you a quick overview of the plot, “The Christmas Chronicles” is about two siblings, a brother and sister who lost their father. They plan to sneak onto Santa’s sleigh, but unfortunately end up crashing in Chicago. Both siblings spend the rest of the film trying to save Christmas by getting out of Chicago!

The real charming thing about the movie is not the plot, in fact, it’s Kurt Russel as he plays the role of Santa. He brings a more determined edge to the movies as scenes show him tell other characters that the doesn’t like to “ho, ho, ho” and how he is more healthy than you think (he says he hits the gym every single day). He talks about how he feels offended that he is portrayed by the media as a fat Santa when he is as healthy as it gets!

But after hearing everything that he has to say, Santa makes you feel that he really cares about anyone and everyone!

I watched the movie with my family, I loved it, my wife did, and so did the kids. This makes this movie a great way to spend the time as a family and enjoy It together as the movie does suit all ages and it has a little bit for everyone!

Make sure you make time this holiday season to watch “The Christmas Chronicles”. You can thank me later!
