Sully- George H.W. Bush’s Dog has proven to be loyal even after his death

The strong bond between a dog and their owner cannot be understood by many.

A dog is well known to be a loyal friend. No matter how rich or poor you are, your dog will stay by your side. They don’t have preferences in how you live your life or what political party you support, they will love you no matter what.

Sully is George H.W. Bush’s dog that managed to steal the hearts of many as he was photographed refusing to leave the president’s casket.

Sully’s picture was shared by Bush’s spokesman, Jim McGrath, last Sunday. The picture quickly went viral along with its fitting caption “Mission Complete”.

Sully is set to remain with Bush’s family during the proceedings of the funeral. Following this, he will be returned to America’s VetDogs in New York to serve wounded service member at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s Facility Dog Program in Maryland.

As part of his new job, Sully with work with other service dogs to help wounded soldiers that are undergoing therapy.

Sully was given to president Bush when he was only two years old. George Bush, Junior told PEOPLE earlier this week how his family were going to miss Sully who has been part of their lives for a long time.

What an amazing dog that has proven his loyal companionship until the very end!
