Most of us have been taught to respect others from a young age. Even more so, we are educated to know that people that suffer from disabilities deserve utmost respect in the same way we should respect anyone else. There should be no difference between the way we treat others.
However, in July, terrible news went viral all-over social media after a 40-year old women who suffers from disabilities was abused by four teenagers in Suffolk, England.
According to some news reports, the teenagers threw eggs and flour over a disabled woman and with arrogance and poor taste decided to pose next to her following their horrible actions.
The mentally disabled woman was seen wearing all white and was covering her face as the four teens stood behind her proud after what they did.
The Daily Mail reported that the women suffered from a breakdown in the park in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and started to shout at the boys who started to throw eggs and flour on her.
Suffolk police have issued a report stating that the woman was severely distressed although not physically harmed after the horrific incident.
One of the four teenagers decided to post the image on Snapchat. Despite him being proud of himself, the rest of the internet showered him with abuse and criticism because of his and his friends’ horrible actions.
The teenagers who have been estimated between 15 and 17 years old have still not been identified.
Inspectior Anthony Bridgland has said that: “This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable, and we are treating the matter seriously. We know this incident may have caused concern and anger both in the local community and online, but we would like to reassure everyone that we are tackling the matter robustly and supporting the victim.”
