Elvis Presley’s Abandoned Airplane Finds a New Home

Elvis Presley’s Abandoned Airplane Finds a New Home

Elvis Presley was famous for more than his unforgettable music and unique voice, which captivated fans worldwide.

Besides, he had a knack for fashion and food—ever heard of blue suede shoes?

Many don’t know that the rock legend also excelled in design. Take, for example, his iconic private airplane.

Elvis purchased his personal plane back in 1962 and had it tailored to his taste.

The luxurious setting is evident with its plush carpet, mahogany paneling, and red velvet upholstery.

Despite owning the Lockheed Jetstar for nearly three decades, Elvis didn’t use it after his untimely death in 1977. Instead, it was displayed as a tourist attraction near Roswell, New Mexico.

A recent auction in Florida saw this aircraft, beloved by an Elvis fan bidder, sold for $260,000.

Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, soared through the skies aboard this jet for the first time together.

More than three decades after Elvis’s untimely demise, the plane still resides in New Mexico. Its exterior maintains a reddish hue, and considering its age, it remains in fair condition.

Take a look inside… Imagine a long-haul flight in this jet. It perfectly mirrors how the King of Rock would travel.

Luxurious crimson velvet covers the seats, complemented by wooden panels on the walls.

The plane offers ample seating, emphasizing high quality. Behind the main area is a small kitchen.

Observe the microwave—its age likely renders it unusable. Imagine Elvis stretching, heading to the kitchen, and warming up his iconic sandwich—a lavish fusion of peanut butter, mayonnaise, crispy bacon, and banana—one could only dream!

Have a peek at the bathroom! More velvet and an upscale sink evoke an upscale feeling. Compared to cramped charter flights, this represents sheer comfort.

Not too shabby, is it? What a holiday treat to envision Elvis in his holiday attire.

Currently, the plane’s auction-winning bid stands at $260,000, achieved during the January 8 event at Florida’s Mecum Kissimmee Collector Car Auction.

The buyer chose to remain anonymous, bidding over the phone.
