Rapper Chris King, a friend of Justin Bieber, was fatally shot while hanging out in an alleyway with a group of his friends in Nashville.
According to the police, King and two of his friends, were approached by a group of men whom they didn’t know.
“The (surviving) 29-year-old victim reported the group was hanging out cordially for some time before the three suspects attempted to rob his group of friends,” the statement released by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said. “It was then that he heard gunfire and realized he was struck.”
Sadly, King, 32, died after being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Justin Bieber paid his tributes in an Instagram story.
“Love you, bro. This one hurts,” Bieber wrote alongside the video of him and the late rapper. “See you in paradise, brother.”
King and Bieber lived together about a decade ago for a short time.
In December 2023, King posted a photo of him and Bieber, reminiscing about their time as roommates.
“Fun fact: I lived at my brother’s krib (sic) for a full year and a half almost 10 years ago,” he wrote. “Glad some people never change no matter what. all love, forever extended family.”
Courtland Young, another of King’s friends, urged people to refrain from commenting on matters they knew nothing about. “I can’t speak about this right now, but I’ve been in touch with his family and close friend,” Young wrote on the social media.
Chris was best known for his collaborations with Trippie Redd, who also paid tribute.
“I love you until we meet again twin!” he posted to Instagram. “I would not be where I am today without @whoischrisking he introduced me to @elliotgrainge & @milothelight 🙏 and he had the best energy always he had so many friends and it shows I love you guys for supporting one of my best friends ever my brother.”
Actor Keke Palmer also posted about King. She shared an old photo of her chatting with the late rapper.
“I wish I had more photos but it’s actually perfect because this is exactly how it began,” she wrote. “I can’t believe I’m saying rest in peace. This is terrible. I really don’t know what to say. I just want to share that I loved you and I remember all the city walk, grove moments. That was my high school.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris King’s family, as well as with Justin Bieber and his close friends.
