Michael Bolton, 70, recovering after undergoing “immediate surgery” for brain tumor

Iconic singer Michael Bolton has opened up on a worrying health struggle he faced over the holiday season, confirming that he had undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor.

Taking to social media late last week, the When a Man Loves a Woman crooner wrote: “I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year!

“I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges.”

“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery,” he went on.

“Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”

Bolton explained that as a result of the surgery he would now be taking some time off to recover from the comfort of his home. Unfortunately, that will impact his pending touring schedule.

“For the next couple of months, I will be devoting my time and energy to my recovery which means I’ll have to take a temporary break from touring,” the singer said.

“It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”

Needless to say, the majority of fans who took the time to comment on the post were sympathetic towards Bolton and his sudden, unexpected plight.

The US singer, who has sold more than 75 million records, is best known for hits such as How Am I Supposed to Live Without You, When a Man Loves a Woman and Said I Loved You… But I Lied.

The 70-year-old was due to embark upon a new tour in February which included dates in the US, UK, Canada and Switzerland.

Our thoughts go out to Michael Bolton as we wish him a very speedy recovery!
