Actress Betty White, who turned 99 this year, gives a grizzly bear a kiss

Actress Betty White is a national treasure. Born on January 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois, she turned 99 and according to her latest interview with People Magazine, it’s her sense of humour that keeps her young at heart.

White’s career spans over eight decades and she’s still the queen of showbiz.

In the early 1950s, White launched her first television series, Life with Elizabeth. Speaking of it, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “I was one of the first women producers in Hollywood.”

What followed were some huge series that cemented her place in the industry. White was part of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s and one of the four Golden Girls, a series following the life of four elderly female friends which ran for seven seasons and brought White an Emmy Award.

Betty White is older than sliced bread but her health is perfectly fine. She’s also the oldest person to host Saturday Night Live. “It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. It was really funny stuff, but it was a challenge,” she told Newsweek.

This amazing woman’s birthday parties have always been sort of unique. This year, however, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, White celebrated her 99th birthday with her closest friends only. And yes, that includes her animal friends as well.

In fact, White is known as one of the greatest animal lovers out there. She spends huge amounts of money on charities which help animals, among which the Los Angeles Zoo and the Morris Animal Foundation. I’m actually the luckiest old broad alive. Half my life is working in a profession I love and the other half is working with animals,” she said.

A video of her hanging around a bear named Bam Bam shows just how much she cares for the inhabitants of the zoo. She is seen feeding him and petting him and then planting a kiss on the grizzly’s head. I haven’t seen anything more adorable than this in a while.

Check the video of White and Bam bam below.
